Monday Mix Tape: Wedding Playlist of A Non-Committed Lady

Monday Mix Tape: Wedding Playlist of A Non-Committed Lady

For someone who doesn’t see herself in front of the altar, making a wedding playlist is a bit odd and kinda weird. I don’t exactly know why I don’t see myself walking down the aisle and meeting the man who will spend the rest of his days with me. I am not a man-hater nor I despise the male population. In fact, I can get along with them most of the times. I also have a few buddies whom I could really trust and enjoy a day just laughing out loud for so many reasons.

I’m not really sure what triggers the idea; all I can remember is that I’m inclined with the idea since college days. However, there’s this one time when the idea undergone a slight change; a change that until now I don’t know if it is for real or just my wild imagination that runs since 2013.

Wedding is such a big life event and marriage rings a bell of forever commitment. I am not afraid of them but something keeps telling me not yet to join the pool of brave people. Wedding and marriage are overwhelming I guess because of the responsibilities you have to take in the long run. But hey, I think that’s manageable.

But you know what? Making a wedding playlist is the best thing I can think of when one is planning his or her wedding. I get too excited whenever I read a blog post about wedding but I’m not quite sure if someone mentioned the music they heard on the wedding day. For someone who is inclined to music and loves to explore anything that’s ‘eargasm’, wedding playlist is a big deal for me. I know it sounds shallow, but for me, it represents the personality of the couple and the things they have been through.

Though single and marriage is still on the other side of the planet, I’m excited in creating my own wedding playlist. The playlist is composed of the songs that I really like, and I felt the need to include them on a stand-by wedding day. I believe that they are not typical songs for your wedding day, but I guess I just want to have a different set of music on my own big day.

So, let’s hear them:

1. Fine Time by Eraserheads

Favorite line/s:
Forever would be fine.

How sweet can you get? I fell in love with the song when I first heard it during high school. The moment I learned about weddings, I always want it to be the first on the playlist.

2. I Melt With You by Jason Mraz

Favorite line/s:
There’s nothing you and I won’t do.
I’ll stop the world and melt with you

Actually, I’m torn choosing between the version of Jason Mraz and the original rendition of Modern English. This may be put on hold. I really have to think it over whether the original is better than the other version.

3. Love Song by 311

Favorite line/s:
Whenever I’m alone with you
You make me feel like I am whole again

I chose 311’s version over The Cure. I think it’s more appropriate when you see your partner walk down the aisle and excited to hold your arms.

4. Huwag Kang Matakot by Eraserheads

Favorite line/s:
Huwag kang matakot
‘Di mo ba alam nandito lang ako sa iyong tabi
‘Di kita pababayaan kailan man

Assuring your partner that you will be there no matter what is simply great.

5. Just Like A Splendid Love Song by Orange and Lemons

Favorite line/s:
You and me, together we will journey
To seek and see the colours of our fantasies

A really romantic song that makes you think that everything will be alright as long as the two of you will stay together.

6. Everlong (acoustic) by Foo Fighters

Favorite line/s:
Come down and waste away with me
and/or
If everything could ever feel this real forever

A perfect song for two people who decide to waste time together for a long time.

7. You and Me by Wannadies

Favorite line/s:
You and me always and forever

The word ‘always’ is almost perfect for a committed couple.

8. More Today than Yesterday by Spiral Staircase

Favorite line/s:
I thank the Lord for love like ours that grows ever stronger

This is the original version and I still love Goldfinger’s rendition (check that too for more reggae/ska-ish version). A perky song that’s perfect for wedding – a song that will remind you of the years you’re going to spend with your partner.

9. Make it With You by Bread

Favorite line/s:
I want to make it with you

Classic love song that you want to sing to your partner forever.

10. Baby I’m Yours by Arctic Monkeys

Favorite line/s:
I’m gonna stay right here by your side,
Do my best to keep you satisfied

Originally sang by Barbara Lewis in 1965. What a positive song that will brighten up every waking day.

11. Nearness of You by Norah Jones

Favorite line/s:
When you’re in my arms and I feel you so close to me
All my wildest dreams came true

All I want to do is dance with that someone.

wedding playlist, mixtape

I had a rough time choosing the songs for my future wedding (if ever there will be) and the others are still on my notebook waiting to be blogged again. You can listen to these tracks and among others on my 8tracks profile. 🙂

Now, what’s your wedding playlist? Care to share? 🙂
